JOINING HAPIA
Can we thank everyone who has renewed their subscription and for your support for HAPIA – the Healthwatch and Public Involvement Association.
We believe it is essential for Healthwatch to have a powerful and united voice and to create powerful local and national coalitions. HAPIA acts as a source of expert advice for our members, and works to influence Ministers and Civil Servants on health and social care issues. We campaign for effective patient and public involvement and greater democracy in health and social care. We promote the participation of Healthwatch members and other community organisations in policy debates and in consultations on quality, access and the provision of services.
HAPIA was set up to support the development of Healthwatch as effective bodies which enable the public to monitor, influence and improve health and social care. We promote democratic and accountable public involvement, which genuinely empowers patients, care receivers and carers to influence planners, commissioners and providers of health and social care, in order to achieve safe and effective services. HAPIA will investigate and challenge health, social care and public health bodies that fail to provide or commission safe, effective, compassionate and accessible services.
We shall scrutinise the effectiveness of HWE, LHW, IAS (Independent Advocacy Services) as vehicles for public influence, redress and improvement of health, social care and public health services, and examine the effectiveness of Healthwatch in relation to recommendations of the Francis Report.
HAPIA will communicate key messages and information rapidly and continuously to the Association’s membership and the media.
If you have not yet sent your subscription, please do so as soon as possible – we need your support.
